Great Western Series - Major
Portland, OR
- July 30-Aug. 1, 1999
The DBA team was Ron, Chris, Lupe, Mike, and Ben. DBA ref'd 37 games on Saturday from 8:00am to nearly 7:00pm, then another 22 games for the finals on Sunday between 9:00am and 4:30pm. A total of 59 games! Reffing Portland was truly a pleasure. For those of you who haven't tried it, do so. Nothing gives you a better perspective on why honesty and integrity are so important to our sport. DBA would like to congratulate the winners and give a special thanks to all the players and teams who went out and played a clean friendly tournament. It's teams like you that ensure other teams will see reffing as an opportunity and not a chore. We earned 100 seed points for reff'ing and, after this tournament, Dynamite Bush Apes are now ranked 3rd in 5-man Amateur (AAA) of the GWS.

Great Western Series - Major
Fresno, CA
- Sept. 24-26, 1999
The DBA team was Ron, Chris, Lupe, Mike, and Ben. Lupe played with a broken leg and it was tough to compensate when he could only get to the closest bunker. However, one of the highlights of this tournament came from Lupe in our final first-round game against Black Sunday. After a trade-for-trade game it came down to one-on-one. From the same bunker he started in, Lupe eliminated the last player and then had to hobble across the field, get the flag, and hang it with just seconds remaining. Unfortunately, DBA only won two of nine first round games, finished first round with 313 pts. and ranked 8th in our preliminary division. The top six teams advanced to the Finals. DBA finished the tournament 8th overall in the AAA Division. AAA teams opposing the DBA included Iron Kids, Top Gun, Outsiders Hazel, Zero Tolerance, Team Caution, USA All Stars, Phoenix Heat 1, Deja vu, and Black Sunday. After this tournament Dynamite Bush Apes are ranked 4th in 5-man Amateur of the GWS.

Great Western Series - Major
Turtle Bay, HI
- Nov. 19-21, 1999
Aloha! The DBA team was Ron, Chris, Lupe, Mike, and Ben. DBA won only one of six first round games. However, the one game that was won was a satisfying one. In less than three minutes, DBA pulled off a "dead-man's walk" against the Iron Kids and gave them their only loss of the first round. As fun as that was, it just wasn't enough, and DBA finished the first round and overall in the tournament ranked 8th in the AAA Division.. The top six teams advanced to the Finals. AAA teams opposing the DBA included The Family, X-men Black, Action Zone, Iron Kids, Outsiders Hazel, and Phoenix Heat 1. After this tournament Dynamite Bush Apes have finished the season ranked 5th in the 5-man Amateur division of the Great Western Series.
